The holiday area Catinaccio – Latemar, called Rosengarten – Latemar in German, is a truly magical place. It is located in the south-western part of the Dolomites, right in the middle of King Laurin’s legendary realm.

Against the backdrop of the “pale mountains”, as the Dolomites are also called, crystal clear mountain lakes and deep dark woods give you the feeling of being in a harmonious dream. Easy trails lead young and old guests through the stunningly beautiful natural landscape, past rare herbs and fragrant meadows, rustic farms and lovingly tended mountain pastures. Very popular places of excursion are for instance the earth pyramids and the local museum of Collepietra, but also the famous pilgrimage place Madonna di Pietralba. Those who want to follow the trails of great Alpinists should put on sturdy shoes and hike along the well-marked high altitude and climbing routes which lead along steep rock faces and spectacular mountain ridges; once you have reached the top unforgettable views over the surrounding peaks will be the reward for your efforts. And in the evenings, when a dark red veil covers the Catinaccio, the mountain range starts to glow and the region shows itself in all its magnificence and splendour; tranquillity and idyll can be enjoyed to the full.

Not only from the middle of April until the end of October, but also during the cold time of the year, the area Catinaccio – Latemar is a great place for recreation: winterly walks over rolling hills, through snowy forests; the fantastic ski pistes of the Ski Center Latemar and the Ski Area Lake Carezza; numerous amusing toboggan runs which make children’s eyes shine with joy; over 100 kilometres of best-maintained cross-country ski runs – also during wintertime King Laurin’s realm is a real holiday paradise.
